Design Across Borders (HVA)
Brief
In Design Across Borders, students develop concept proposals for digital media services that address complex design challenges in an international context. In this edition, the focus was on promoting bicycling as an integral part of urban mobility. Designing for a different culture requires a deep understanding of local perspectives and behaviors. To gain these insights, our team traveled to Bremen (Germany), where we conducted research on how residents perceive cycling and the city's evolving mobility system. Through interviews and observations, we explored the nuances surrounding transportation habits and public attitudes toward new cycling infrastructure. Based on our findings, we developed Tritt Mit, an awareness campaign designed to inform Bremen's citizens about the city's plans to introduce additional bike lanes. The campaign aimed to communicate not only what changes were being made, but also why these changes are important for creating a more sustainable and accessible city. As part of the campaign, we created a prototype infographic that translates complex information into an engaging infographic. My primary contribution to the project was creating the majority of the illustrations used throughout the campaign. Through these visuals, I helped communicate key messages and make the information more approachable for a broad audience.
